Common questions

Short answers, with a link to the long one where there is one.

Can I use Dawnling as my only alarm?

That is the goal, and it is what I test for. Give it a week alongside your usual alarm first; not because I expect it to fail, but because a new alarm should earn trust rather than be handed it. The ten-second test is the quick version.

What happens if I miss a morning?

Nothing. Wick slept in too. There are no streaks, no guilt messages and nothing to lose. The mornings count stays where it was and goes up next time.

Why are there no streaks?

Because a streak turns a bad night into a punishment, and the people who most need a kinder alarm are the ones a broken streak hurts most. Habit research backs this up: missing a single day does not materially affect whether the habit forms. So Dawnling counts mornings up and never counts anything down.

The alarm didn't ring while Do Not Disturb was on

On iOS 26 and Android the alarm rings through every Focus; the only thing that stops it is the permission being off. On iOS 17 and 18 Time Sensitive has to be allowed in two places, and the second one is inside the Focus itself. The checklist is on Alarm reliability.

The alarm vibrated but made no sound

On iOS 17 and 18 that is the silent switch. Apple only lets its own Clock ring through it on those versions. Switch silent mode off at night, or use a Sleep Focus for quiet instead. On iOS 26 and Android the alarm rings through silent mode.

How do I turn off the wake mission?

Open the alarm and switch off Wake mission. It is per alarm, so the weekday one can stay strict. On a rough morning, holding Hold, I'm up for a moment skips the mission for that day.

How many times can I snooze?

As many as the alarm allows: unlimited on iOS 26 and Android when snooze is on, and 1, 2, 3 or unlimited on iOS 17 and 18. The length is 1 to 15 minutes. See Snooze.

How do I earn dewdrops?

By getting up (5) and finishing the routine (10 more), by a Focus stretch (3), and once by the seven First steps (80 together). They cannot be bought. See Shop and inventory.

What does Dawnling cost?

Nothing. There is no subscription, no ads, and no way to buy dewdrops. If Dawnling ever sells anything it will be a set of furniture bought once, at the same price on both stores, and the core app stays free.

Is my data backed up?

It rides along with your phone's own backup. There is no account and no cloud of Dawnling's own. See Your data.

Does it work on Apple Watch?

On iOS 26 the alarm uses Apple's alarm system, which shows the alert on a paired Watch and lets you stop it there. There is no Watch app.

Why is the app light only?

The room does the job dark mode usually does: it dims through the evening, goes blue at night and comes back with the sun. The screens around it stay cream so the pixel art reads.

Can I move furniture freely?

No. Every piece has a spot, and you swap what is in it. See the chest.

Where did my flame colours come from?

They unlock with the bond. Tap the bond strip on Home to see them and switch. See Flame colours.
